hmmmmm

ever think about going vegetarian?

this will convince u.

i picked up a copy of vegetarian magazine today because im not a huge meat eater and i was looking for some recipes, and its kinda crazy how good being a vegetarian is for u. heres a link to a "starter kit" which gives you advice on how to become vegetarian, how to eat right as a vegetarian, and how to eat healthier in general.

http://www.vegetariantimes.com/2007/pdf/vegetarian_starter_kit.pdf

this "starter kit" is also informative because it shares things such as eggs are pretty much all fat and good substitutes for them, vegetables give you more calcium then milk, how too much protein is bad for you and if you consume too much it can even lead to kidney disease and cancer. (it breaks it down how in there)

here also, are 2 examples of a very healthy, vegetarian daily meal plan (included in the kit). it sounds sooo good.

Breakfast
1 cup oatmeal with cinnamon and raisins,
1/2 cup fortified soymilk, 1 slice toast with
1 tablespoon almond butter, 1/2 grapefruit

Lunch
Whole-wheat pita stuffed with hummus,
sliced tomatoes, and lettuce, carrot sticks
Dinner

1 cup baked beans, baked sweet potato,
1 cup steamed collard greens drizzled with
lemon juice, baked apple

Snack
Banana soymilk shake

Breakfast
3 oatmeal pancakes with applesauce
topping, calcium-fortified orange juice,
fresh fruit

Lunch
Bean burritos: black beans in corn
tortillas, topped with chopped lettuce,
tomatoes, and salsa, spinach salad with
tahini-lemon dressing

Dinner
Chinese stir-fry over brown rice: tofu
chunks, broccoli, pea pods, water
chestnuts, and Chinese cabbage (bok
choy), cantaloupe chunks drizzled with
fresh lime juice

Snack
Dried figs

im not done reading this whole kit thing but thats what i got so far. i definately considering this just because of the health benefits. i also like how u can get all creative with foods and what not. i love my chicken but i can do with out it ya know? idk to be continued i guess.

fash

so style.com had pictures up this week from new york fashion week. i was surprised that i only liked a total of about 15 things out of like 18973493. i would have seen 78594793745 more but my charger decided to stop working and my comp died and then lost all my places on the sites. booooooo charger. i was too lazy to go back and find my place so this is what i got from what i looked at.

there was alot of velour, bad styling choices that definitely took away from the good pieces, mens inspired clothing for woman, and alot of plaid. i hate to say it but im still in love with plaid...its such a good pattern, it can match with anything and not be TOO much. so i aint mad at that!

ANYWAY heres what was good. ( i was too lazy to jot down the designers sorry)

what chu know

BOOYAH!

oh yah and go to this tomorrow night.

mMmMmMm

i found these recipes yesterday and they sounds damn good. i have yet to try them but feel free to steal them.

Apple and Pear Stew with Oatmeal Dumplings
2 tablespoons butter
4 apples, peeled, cored and sliced
4 pears, peeled, cored and sliced
3 cinnamon sticks
1/4 cup chopped candied ginger
3 cloves
3 star anise
1 orange, zested
1/4 cup Calvados
Salt
Pepper

For the Oatmeal Dumplings:
1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Salt
1 1/2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons Calvados
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 cup dried apricots, rehydrated in 1/2 cup water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a hot saute pan, add the butter and melt. Add apples, pears, cinnamon, candied ginger, cloves, star anise and orange zest and cook until tender, about 6 minutes. Remove from heat and add Calvados. Cook another 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper and pour into a gratin dish.
For the Oatmeal Dumplings: In a large bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt and mix well. Drain the apricots and place in the bowl of a food processor. Add the honey, Calvados and butter and puree. Mix the apricot puree into the dry ingredients. Spoon dollops of oatmeal mixture on top of the apple and pear mixture. Place in the oven and bake until the oatmeal mounds are golden brown, about 8 to 10 minutes.

Eggs Italiano

1/4 cup distilled white vinegar
2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 shallot, minced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 pound zucchini (about 2 medium), diced
12 ounces plum tomatoes (3-4), diced
3 tablespoons thinly sliced fresh basil, divided
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground pepper to taste
8 large eggs
4 whole-wheat English muffins, split and toasted
2 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Fill a large, straight-sided skillet or Dutch oven with 2 inches of water; bring to a boil. Add white vinegar.

Meanwhile, heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add shallot and garlic and cook, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in zucchini and tomatoes and cook, stirring occasionally, until the zucchini is tender, about 10 minutes. Remove from the heat, stir in 1 tablespoon basil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper.

Meanwhile, reduce the boiling water to a gentle simmer; the water should be steaming and small bubbles should come up from the bottom of the pan. Crack each egg into a small bowl and slip them one at a time into the simmering water, taking care not to break the yolks. Cook for 4 minutes for soft set, 5 minutes for medium set and 8 minutes for hard set. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the eggs to a clean kitchen towel to drain.

To serve, top each muffin half with some of the vegetable mixture, an egg, a sprinkling of cheese and the remaining basil.

my night at a jiggy club trying to be an electro club

a couple of weeks ago we went to area for one of the rumbles gigs, and man that was one of my best nights out. lets take a look at the highlights shall we?

- there was a guy walking around in chanel sunglasses (which i was convinced they were fake with all the rhinestones on those babies) , a cowboy shirt with, if im not mistaken, more rhinestones ( i could have made that part up but i hope slash am pretty sure its true) and a "messy fohawk" with highlights. let me tell u ladies and gentlemen...he was the most amazing thing ever. everything he did was in slow motion ....i think because he wanted to seem really cool? he would walk by really slow kinda slouched, arms swaying slowly by his sides, with his head tilted up. i think he made a round about every 15 minutes. and the fact that he had to lower his sunglasses to check his phone was COMEDY! like, take your FREAKING sunglasses off, for one , at night, and for two , AT A NIGHT CLUB. and the best part about the whole thing was the fact that he took a sleeze home with the shortest dress ive ever seen, stripper shoes (you know, the clear ones), and chest EXPOSED. they were definitely having sex on the dance floor.

-watching nick carter almost getting into a fight.

-i think i was blinded by the end of the night by all the tits and ass that i saw that night. i just dont understand why girls need to wear dresses that go above their coochie? i think thats call a shirt.

-me and inky and mike were standing together in a rather awkward part in the club and there were 3 really short girls in front of us and all of a sudden mike leans over to me and says " im really tired of looking at these short ugly girls in front of us" i laughed out loud of course then he continues to say " can there be an uglier group of friends???..............under 5 ft?" that about did me in, but what was the topper was that we named them the shugglies.

- i really hate bagging on go-go dancers because i have first hand experience being on the other side, but i was a little thrown off by her bathing suit top, baggy cargo pants that came to her calves, and her tennis shoes.

-some girl was wearing a huge feather in her hair and a cape, along with a floral (not print...literally floral) bra top, and some sort of matching floral (not print.....literally floral) belt.

and the grand finale.....

- a flavor flav look alike in a bucket hat with rhinestones on it making out some sort of zodiac sign looking design, a TRENCH coat, and sunglasses.

this all followed by kyle loosing his keys, and mike phan (the generous man that he is) driving us home.

oh area. i love you and hate you all at once. thanks for a good night.
